Midori Flair Championships 2006/2007

Midori has ended its tour of the British Isles in search of the best newcomers to Flair. Following an England & Wales heat in Hard Rock Cafe in Manchester and a Scottish regional heat held at Frankenstein in Glasgow, £1,600 has been won and eight bartenders will be meeting early next year in the final, to compete for the title of Midori Flair Champion 2007.

The winner of the England and Wales heat was Tony Adams from TGIs, Haymarket with Sylvain Glatigny coming second. They, alongside Dave Reynolds and Ben Heggarty will go head-to-head with David Monaghan, the winner of the Scottish heat who was also last year's runner-up in the Midori Flair Championship, Jake Rozyn, Burhan Yildirim and Niel Cody.

Amongst the Judges looking for that "flair factor" were Nicolas Saint-Jean, four times former World Flair Champion and Nicki Daw, UK Marketing Manager for Midori. Nicki was delighted that the competition attracted so many new faces. "Midori actively encourages bartenders with less than four years experience to compete and so we get a good turnover of new talent. Last year's Midori Flair Champion, Jay du Toit, is no longer eligible to compete having reached the 4 year limit, which frees up the title for somebody new!"

"The inspiration and creativity of these young flair bartenders is so rewarding to watch. Every year it just gets better" remarks Nicki, "The final is going to be an exciting affair, with fresh moves and different styles being key to impressing".
